At Dover Business College, we offer programs that let you focus on what you need to succeed in the world of health care. Our Surgical Technologist program will prepare you with the knowledge and skills needed to assist in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel. A dedicated member of the operating room team, which most commonly include surgeons, anesthesiologists, and circulating nurses, Surgical Technologists may perform such tasks as interviewing patients prior to surgery; preparing patients for surgery; preparing the operating room; helping with anesthesia; operating sterilizers, lights or suction machines; handling specimens taken for laboratory analysis; keeping a written account of the surgical procedure; answering the surgeon’s questions about the patient during the procedure; and more.

Dover Business College’s program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Only graduates of CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technologists programs are eligible to sit for the CST exam. The Certified Surgical Technologist designation (CST) is a national credential indicating that the Surgical Technologist meets certain standards of competence.

A state-of-the-art operating room laboratory and equipment are utilized in the teaching/learning process. The program emphasizes:

As a graduate you will have a fully rounded understanding of clinical competencies that will help you perform successfully in hospitals, physicians’ offices, outpatient care centers, and ambulatory surgical centers.
